Anticitrullinated Protein Antibodies (CCP Ab)

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is one of the most common autoimmune diseases. This systemic disease is characterized by chronic inflammation of the synovial joints and progressive joint degeneration eventually leading to disability of affected individuals.
The diagnosis of RA often relies on clinical manifestations and laboratory tests such as rheumatoid factor (RF) and C‑reactive protein (CRP). Recently anti‑CCP is a target of a whole set of autoantibodies detected in the sera of RA patients due to a high specificity for RA.
